Dwyane Wade ‘Relieved’ Now That Divorce Is Finalized

Miami Heat basketball player and NBA all-star Dwyane Wade is finally divorced from estranged (now ex) wife Siohvaughn Wade, according to the Chicago Tribune. There were few surprises, although Siohvaughn Wade’s Chicago family law attorney vowed to appeal the ruling. Dwyane Wade said he felt relieved that the long and bitter ordeal is finally over:

“It’s been a long, long process and to finally get this part behind us. I feel great, even though we still have more to get done.”

Judge Marya Nega said Dwyane Wade had proven irreconcilable differences with Siohvaughn, even though it may already have been apparent in the court of public opinion. But child custody of the couple’s two sons and the division of marital assets still have to be worked out.

Dwyane Wade still retains physical custody of his children until further proceedings determine a final ruling, according to the judge’s order. Michael Kalcheim, the tenth divorce attorney in Chicago to represent Siohvaughn Wade, said he plans to file an appeal.

He told reporters that it was improper to finalize a divorce without also finalizing child custody and financial matters:

“The judge made a mistake.”

Even though this saga may very well have another chapter, Dwyane Wade is now looking forward to charting his future in the NBA. He will become a free agent as early as this week and may very well command a $100 million contract.

The couple, who first become romantically involved at Richards High School in Oak Lawn, had been separated for nearly three years before the recent dissolution of their marriage.

James Pritkin, Dwyane Wade’s Illinois family law attorney, took the opportunity to rattle off a basketball metaphor:

“Mrs. Wade has committed her final flagrant foul. Her game is over.”

Well, maybe not quite. This could go into overtime.

Gosselin War Coming to an End

In a recent article published by People.com, it was said that Kate and Jon Gosselin were finally done fighting over the children. They had a Mediation this weekend where Jon showed up with a bouquet of roses for Kate, who denied them. What was said by Jon to be a peace offering, Kate feared meant more. The two parents have agreed that Kate shall have primary custody of the children, and we continue to see this hollywood divorce slowly creeping to an end.

DNA Testing – The Change in Fatherhood

Once again, we commend the New York Times for continuing to raise awareness about the importance of fathers. In a recent article written by Ruth Padawer of the New York Times, a man named Mike finds out he is not the real father of the 4-year-old he had grown to love so much.

In a strange twist of events, the biological mother (Mike’s now ex-wife) remarried to his daughter’s biological father. Although his daughter was now living with both biological parents, he was still being forced to pay child support. Why would he still be willing to do so? As quoted in the article, “Just because our relationship started because of someone else’s lie,” he said later, “doesn’t mean the bond that developed isn’t real.”

Despite the situation, Mike still loves his daughter more than anything and proves a great example of a father who would do anything for their child.

Corey Feldman 'Deeply Hurt' by Divorce

Corey Feldman is hoping to avoid a messy split from his wife and is putting their son first, his rep said in a statement Wednesday. ”Corey is deeply hurt and saddened by this unexpected change in their relationship, and has done nothing to contribute to the demise of the marriage,” the statement reads.

Susie Sprague filed for divorce on Oct. 22 after seven years of marriage and is seeking sole custody of their son, Zen, 5, with visitation rights for Feldman. She’s also seeking spousal support. Feldman is “hopeful that he and Susie can work to resolve this quickly and amicably, and he is fully committed to doing what is best for the welfare of their son,” the statement adds.

Feldman, 38, and Sprague were married in October 2002, nine months after meeting in a nightclub, on the set of VH1’s The Surreal Life in a ceremony officiated by MC Hammer and a rabbi.
