Sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide prevention the Out of Darkness Community Walk is designed to raise awareness and funds for the foundation’s work.  In the United States, a person dies by suicide every 15 minutes, claiming more than 34,000 lives each year. It is estimated that an attempt is made every minute; with close to one million people attempting suicide annually.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. With the weight of the tragic losses families and friends suffer through the importance of AFSP’s mission has never been greater, nor their work more urgent.

Participating in the Out of Darkness walk is more than just walking, and donors are writing more than checks, it is a sign of everyone coming together to save the lives of those in their community.

Any contribution will help the work of AFSP, and all donations are 100% tax deductible.

Stop Diabetes is the movement to end the devastating toll that diabetes takes on millions of individuals and families across our nation. It inspires and mobilizes the general public, volunteers, donors, corporations and the scientific and medical communities to rally around our cause and our call to “share, act, learn and give.” Through these actions, millions will have the chance to get involved and help raise awareness, promote healthy living, and raise money to fund educational outreach, advocacy efforts, and critical research that will ultimately stop diabetes once and for all.

On November 5th at 8:00am members of the Men’s Divorce Law Firm will be partaking in the Orlando walk.  Registration begins at 7:00am and warm-up and presentation begins at 8:00am.  The actual walkers step out at 8:30am.  We encourage everyone to participate and contribute in this event against a disease that affects so many Americans.  You can find a walk in your area, and register as  a team or individual to walk.

If you are not able to walk in the event but would like to contribute to the cause you can make a pledge in the name of one of our team walkers and contribute to the team goal of $1,000 for Diabetes Research.

Members of the firm had a great time for a good cause, as a portion of the proceeds from the event went towards the Susan G. Getting involved is simple, register with your name and e-mail and the National Fatherhood Initiative will send you six weeks of tips and ideas to help keep your family active and healthy  The program focuses on condition, nutrition and connection, helping dads each week with a Warm-up, practice, and a “Get in the Game” activity to do with their families.

If you are in or around the DC area, or would like to help out the initiative, you can register for the walk in Washington DC on October 16th.  If you cannot make the DC walk you can sign up to host a walk in your local community.

The Bad Girl’s Club Golf Tournament is a weekend of fun with a good cause: proceeds from the tournament go to B.A.S.E Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation to help the fight against cancer.

B.A.S.E. Camp was established in Orlando, Florida, in 1982.  Since then it has helped children through their struggles with cancer.  BASE Camp offers programs that encourage rest, nourishment, encouragement and strength for the children they help.  The acronym stands for  Believe, Achieve, Support, and Educate.

The festivities starts on Friday September 23rd at 6:30pm with the Friday night Pre-Party.  Tickets to the pre-party are $30.00 and include access to live music, complementary appetizers and drinks, silent auction, a chance to meet the bad girl caddies, glow-in-the-dark golf contests and more!

Then, the tournament starts on Saturday the 24th with an 8am shot-gun start.  While it is too late to register a team for this event the bad girls club has events year round and you can join their mailing list for information on future events and other fundraisers.

Founded by the National Fatherhood Initiative the Connections Project is an initiative that focuses on the power of engaged fathers for successful reentry. Through webinars, training, and resources, The Connections Project aims to educate and equip facilitators with best practices that will reduce recidivism by helping to reconnect inmates with their families.

This project was created with a grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance. National Fatherhood Initiative is dedicated to improving the well-being of children by increasing the proportion of children growing up with involved, responsible, and committed fathers. We offer a variety of tools and resources for supporting fathers in many diverse settings.

Why do they focus specifically on fathers?

Children who live absent their biological fathers are, on average, at least two to three times more likely to be poor, to use drugs, to experience educational, health, emotional and behavioral problems, to be victims of child abuse, and to engage in criminal behavior than their peers who live with their married, biological (or adoptive) parents. The Men’s Divorce Law Firm lead by local Orlando Lawyer Jeffrey Feulner works every day to fight for the rights of husbands and fathers everywhere.  We are proud to support the local community and outreach programs such as this.

To be selected for this award companies submit an application which includes a series of questions that illuminate the family benefits and work environment of the company.  These applications are then split into two categories: companies with 249 employees or less, and companies with 250 employees or more.  They are then assessed on a point scale and the top 50 companies in each category form the overall top 100 companies.

The Men’s Divorce Law Firm was present at the awards luncheon this past Friday the 5th at the Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Studios, Orlando.

It was an honor to be recognized among the other outstanding companies in the community and we look forward to continued service to our clients, our community, and our employees in the years to come.

The Crawfish Festival is a staple every year.  It started in 1997 with only 5 people and has since grown to 4,500 attendees in 2010 alone.  With the purchase of an admission ticket you receive access to over the 2,000 pounds of crawfish brought in from Louisiana, the bands, and the bars and beer which operate on tips.  Due to the alcohol access this is a 21+ only event.

The bands this year include The Supervilans, a foursome reggae/punk-rock band, B-Liminal, a band which combines reggae and rock, Savi Fernandez Band, a blues/funk/reggae fusion, The Burnin Smyrnans, a reggae jam band, and last but not least the DJ duo, Digital x Mantas.

While the party will be rocking this event isn’t only about crawfish and rock-and-roll.  A portion of all proceeds will go to the following charities: U.S. Veterans of Foreign Wars and Heart to Heart: A Community Care Home.  Having a good time never felt so good!

If you’re interested in attending the event there are three ticket options:

$30.00 Advance Online Purchase – This ticket is a general admission to the event, slightly cheaper than buying the day-of.  Pre-sale is going on at their website ends at 6:00pm on the 28th.

$35.00 At-the-door Purchase – A general admission to the event.

$90.00 VIP Ticket – This includes general admission plus 2 food buffets during the day, private bar, beer, security, private bathrooms, tent, gift bag, couches, view of stage, and more TBA.  There are only 60 available on a first-come first-serve basis.

(All ticket prices include a 6.5% sales tax)

The event will take place at the Veterans Memorial Park in Baldwin Park on May 29th from 2pm – 10pm, rain or shine.  To get to the event you can either take a bus for a $5.00 ticket from Wall Street in Downtown Orlando.  Or, if you prefer to drive, the VA Hospital Parking Lot located next door to the event will be open for $5.00 parking.
